High Flying Heroes Take to Skies over Fremont Street Experience

Jan. 2, 2013 - PRLog -- Horses4Heroes, one of the most successful equestrian support groups for the military, is the designated January charity by Flightlinez, operators of the Fremont Street Zipline.  On Jan. 3, from noon to midnight, funds raised through ticket sales will be donated to this Las Vegas-based non-profit, which supports all service members, veterans and families with free and low-cost equestrian programs and activities.  Flightlinez ticket packages for $20, that include a t-shirt and "goodie" bag, are being pre-sold by Horses4Heroes members through Jan. 2.  Contact Horses4Heroes at 702.645.8446.  (The event was previously scheduled for 12.12.12.)  Local bands and singing groups will be performing live on Fremont Street in front of the Flightlinez office from noon until 11 pm.  Country Western artist, Scott Haggard, (son of country legend Merle Haggard) and the new celebrity spokesperson for Horses4Heroes, will perform at 7:15 pm.

Specifically, funds raised will support Horses4Heroes' Operation Free Ride, free programs that are provided to veterans, victims of domestic abuse and violence, foster children and at-risk youth, and others in the community who need a little "horse power" in their lives.  Programs like Back in the Saddle, Stay Strong and Ride to Win use horses as teaching partners to boost self-esteem and self-confidence and provide positive interactions and interventions.  

Since the launch of Operation Free Ride on May 19, more than 2,700 have registered for their "free ride" via www.operationfreeride.com.  Horses4Heroes' Operation Free Ride is the largest collaboration of equestrian organizations and breed associations, uniting in support of the nation's troops, returning combat veterans, and families.   To date, there are more than 200 facilities in 43 states plus Canada.   The organization's estimates the cost of one session per family at $50.  

Founded in 2006 and based in Las Vegas, Horses4Heroes, Inc. is a non-profit organization that is making horseback riding affordable for and accessible to, the heroes and their families in communities from coast to coast.  Through a growing national network of kid-friendly, family friendly facilities, the organization provides able-bodied and therapeutic horseback riding programs that emphasize fun and safe activities with horses, mounted and un-mounted for all ages.  Participants learn valuable leadership and teamwork skills, make new friends, and develop a lifelong love of horses!
