The second way to navigate is with the toolbar that is contained at the top of most versions, but in the newest version can be moved in many different locations. This toolbar can be customized to include several shortcuts including "Home, Snapshots, Customers and Vendors" or have items removed that are not needed. Depending on your common tasks you can choose which items to include or delete.
To customize this toolbar, right click over the toolbar and choose "Customize Icon Bar". This will bring up another screen containing all the options that could be included. From here you can choose from "Add, Edit, Delete or Add Separator". The add button will load an additional screen in which you can choose which function to add, and even customize the label that is listed for that function on the toolbar. In addition you can choose the picture that goes along with the function.
Once you have chosen to add a function and hit ok, your newest function will populate to the bottom of the list of content shown on the toolbar. You can readjust the position of that function to be located in another location on your toolbar. The add separator puts a small line in between functions to split up the different tools used on your toolbar if needed.
In addition, you can customize you toolbar further by choosing to show both the icon and text, or just the icon only. Finally, the last customization would be whether or not you wish to have the search function available on the toolbar. The search function is a huge feature in QuickBooks that can instantly provide help to many questions or located specific information by searching for data inside your company quickly.
