Attorney Robert “Chris” Gigstad Attends Criminal and DUI Defense Seminar

Dec. 7, 2012 - PRLog -- Robert C. Gigstad is the founding attorney at the Gigstad Law Offices, LLC, located in Overland Park, Kansas. This past November, attorney Gigstad had the distinct honor of attending the Criminal and DUI Defense seminar with the Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

The seminar took place over the course of two days, on Friday, November 9th, and Saturday, November 10th 2012. On Friday, the comprehensive seminar touched on various important topics such as trial tactics, theory and theme, DUI update, appeals and protecting the record, introduction to interstate compact, and ethics dog and pony show.

The agenda for Saturday’s events highlighted topics including immigration issues, the Kansas Offender Registry, federal sentencing options, and more.

The Kansas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers is a 250 member, non-profit organization comprised of criminal defense lawyers and other professionals in related fields. The organization was originally founded in 1988, and today the KACDL serves to ensure justice and that individuals facing criminal charges are given due process under the law. The KACDL also provides continuing education to Kansas attorneys and it promotes the public awareness of citizens’ inalienable rights, the criminal justice process, as well as the role of criminal defense in the justice process.

The KACDL puts on two annual continuing legal education (CLE) seminars on various topics which are relevant to Kansas criminal defense lawyers, and that touch on topics concerning current laws on a local, state and federal level. The twice-yearly continuing legal education seminars bring Kansas lawyers, as well as other professionals in related fields together where they can discuss current events, and share opinions, ideas and information regarding criminal defense, especially in the state of Kansas.

There are many benefits for lawyers being members of the KACDL, including affiliation with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL), which is a similar, yet national organization of criminal defense lawyers which is also committed to ensuring those facing criminal charges receive justice and are given due process for the charges exacted against them. Both the KACDL and the NACDL exist to foster the integrity, independence, and expertise of the criminal defense attorney, and to promote the fair application of criminal justice against the criminally accused.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and History at Kansas State University.
