HIT Consultant Welcomes Clinithink as New Sponsor

HIT Consultant welcomes its newest sponsor Clinithink to offer the healthcare IT audience more insight into Clinical NLP.

PRLog - Dec. 6, 2012 - ATLANTA -- HIT Consultant welcomes Clinithink, a clinical language processing specialist organization, as its newest team sponsor. Clinithink’s vision is to add structure and meaning to medical data in order to create transparency and improve outcomes within the healthcare system. This partnership will generate much needed awareness about the value of structured data for better understanding and improved performance in analyzing medical data and how it will useful to the industry as a whole.

“As [our] industry continues to move towards an accountable care model of healthcare delivery, Clinical NLP is at the forefront of healthcare innovation,” states Fred Pennic, Founder of HIT Consultant. “By partnering with Clinithink, we will be able to inform our readers quickly with pertinent information on the growing role of Clinical NLP in the healthcare industry.”

Clinithink addresses the problem of unstructured data by using algorithms to index and structure medical data into a cloud-based, patent-pending data solution application called CLiX (Clinical Language Indexing engine). Physicians, solution vendors, provider and payer organizations, pharmaceutical companies, search-engine providers and other entities that create and collect large quantities of unstructured clinical data can benefit from Clinithink technology and solutions.

Clinithink’s decision to partner with HIT Consultant was motivated by the need to fill the gaps that exist in the healthcare industry with regards to the application of NLP technology to effectively structure clinical narrative. Clinithink identified HIT Consultant as a valuable partner in reaching the healthcare IT sector and offering a new perspective on how to manage and understand clinical data.

"We [Clinithink] are very pleased to be working with HIT Consultant to jointly offer our insights into clinical data to a wider audience,’ said Robert Miller, Clinithink VP of Sales and marketing. ‘We look forward to engaging with them to create awareness of the potential for Clinical NLP in healthcare."

About Clinithink: Clinithink enables healthcare providers and solution vendors to extract knowledge from the clinical data currently trapped in the free text of discharge summaries, clinical notes, and other documents. Using patent-pending algorithms and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to structure this currently unstructured data, Clinithink’s CLiX technology enables the indexing, mapping and analyzing of clinical narrative to output rich structured data encoded to medical ontologies such as SNOMED CT and others.

CLiX can be configured as a cloud-based solution and provided via the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model. This makes it extremely flexible, scalable and cost effective to integrate and consume in heterogeneous and legacy healthcare enterprise contexts. Alternatively CLiX can be deployed as an on-premise solution allowing the provider or solution vendor to manage the infrastructure locally.
