Danielle Genest's Tangle of Wings portrays two individuals who, in passing too close to each other, become unintentionally intertwined and ultimately inseparable. Darion Smith's most recent work, Shift, explores the powerful bond between a man and his muse, a bond challenged when temptation and curiosity take him out of her spell. Shift, which premiered in Madrid, Spain, will have its US debut at the NuDance Festival.
Of the Festival, Mr. Smith says, “this is a great opportunity to see a diverse mix of up-and-coming choreographers and dance companies on one stage for three nights in a beautiful and historic venue… [Janusphere has] participated in programming at the Riverside Theatre since 2008 and is grateful to return with compelling performances for the community surrounding the Riverside Church.”
Janusphere Dance Company has given over fifty public performances since its founding in 2007, including performances at the Nagelberg Theater of New York City's Baruch College, Riverside Theatre, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre, Brooklyn Music School and Playhouse, Center for Performance Research and City Center Studios. The Company has performed on tour in California and Rhode Island.
The NuDance Festival at the Riverside Theatre is located inside the historic Riverside Church at 91 Claremont Avenue, New York, NY.
