Ghost Hunting In Durham, At The Gilesgate Barracks, With Simply Ghost Nights & Chris Conway, 8th Dec

Nov. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Join Simply Ghost Nights and Most Haunteds former medium Chris Conway as we investigate these impressive Militia headquarters building now community centre. which is Dated 1863 and based on a corner turret panel inscribed '2nd Durham Militia Stores'.


This is the only Militia building surviving in County Durham. At one time these barracks were used a a smallpox hospital which also had a morgue to srore many deceased bodies, funnily enough there are many ghost stories reported in this area in particular.

The courtyard also has a commonly seen ghost, that of a young soldier who accidently blew himself up whilst loading a cannon. The people who have seen this ghost state that its was a frightening experience that they would never forget.

There is a Lady in White seen roaming between the barracks and the buriel ground situated next door. Was this the spirit of a lady who was secretly meeting up with a soldier? We dare you to join us on our first visit to this amazing building!
