PODS Houston fills holiday stockings with toys during Operation Stocking Stuffer, Nov. 27 – Dec 17

Moving and storage company will share holiday joy by teaming up with Houston Fire Department for many boys and girls

Nov. 20, 2012 - PRLog -- (HOUSTON) – To help spread the holiday cheer to thousand of needy children this season, PODS Houston, a moving and storage company, will help collect a bevy of donated toys by doing the charitable deed of contributing safe and secure PODS® containers during the 2012 Operations Stocking Stuffer toy drive. Houstonians are encouraged to drop off a new, unwrapped toy at any Houston Fire Department (HFD) stations from Nov. 27 – Dec. 18. For fire stations, visit: http://www.houstontx.gov/fire/index.html.

“We are honored to provide our moving and storage logistical expertise to help collect toys that will bring smiles to many children during this holiday season,” said Phil Dvorak, managing partner of PODS Houston. “It is such a joy to be able to bring the spirit of the season to local families experiencing financial hardships.”

To help kick off the event, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, between 6 a.m. – 6 p.m., the public is encouraged to donate a new or gently-used toy at the PODS® container that will be in place at the HFD Station 37, located at 7026 Stella Link Road. Once the toy drive comes to an end in December, PODS will transport the donations to a warehouse to be sorted through, helping save the HFD thousands of dollars in moving and storage logistics. The toys will later be distributed at the giveaway event on Friday, Dec. 21 at the New Light Christian Center, located at 7317 E. Houston Road, beginning at 8 a.m.

“For many years, the Houston Fire Department has been collecting toys for Houston area underprivileged children,” said Thomas Munoz, assistant fire chief. “In 2011, we helped thousands of families have a brighter holiday but we could not have done it without the help of our community business partners. This year HFD will be working with PODS to maximize our manpower, time and travel as our liaisons pick up the toy donations at the fire stations. It is their continued support and tremendous generosity that helps make our toy drives so successful.”

PODS Houston is proud to partner with KPRC Local 2. For more information about the nonprofits PODS Houston serves, visit: http://www.pods.com/houston_community.aspx.
