Follow on Google News | Queens of Wigs is a Community Program Provider for Youth AliveQueens of Wigs is offering 6 week introductory personal grooming courses through Youth Alive's mentoring program. Youth will have the opportunity to explore the world of wigs and weaves and most importantly learn the true meaning of self love.
By: Queens of Wigs The cosmetology program is an intro to cosmetology where students learn about self esteem, the true meaning of beauty, basic wig designing skills, professional business etiquette, marketing and much more. The beauty of this course is that it touches a little bit of every subject. It teaches math through measuring and business strategies. Geography through origins of hair. Science through learning about synthetic fibers and its reaction to heat also learning about various hair glues and the components inside. Also, students touch base on Communication and Language Arts through journal writing and other writing activities. The program is very unique and its definitely not just wigs. The Youth Alive mentoring program is a city of Hartford grant for students ages 10-16 years old. The annual program is currently being hosted by Ebony Horsewomen Inc, located on 337 Vine Street in Hartford CT. The purpose of this program is to not only give students that opportunity to build a positive rapport with a mentor but also to grow and learn skills that are not available in the traditional educational school setting. The program can help many children: · Broaden experiences and add more opportunities for growth · Learn how to deter negative decisions · Improve participation and grades in school · Become more self-confident · Learn what its like to be a positive active community citizen Other community program partners for the Youth Alive are African Drumming and Dance by Sankofa Kumba Horseback Riding and Animal Science by Ebony Horsewomen Inc Sports with Shawn Bell Culinary with Richard Moriarty The annual afterschool program is currently enrolling.
