Time to Make the Switch to LED Lights

Incandescent lights:

As a careful homeowner, I have always thought about means to lessen my electric bills and use a proper source of lighting for my home. I have tried all kinds of lighting systems, including the new age LED lights and I will definitely vouch that these have been the best in lighting so far. The original lights, the incandescent ones, invented 125 years ago by Thomas Alva Edison seems pretty outdated to me because of the fact that they dissipate huge amount of heat energy and only a little amount of total energy is transformed to light energy. Besides, the incandescent lights have very less life spans. In present context, it is simply the most inefficient and obsolete lighting system.

Halogen lights:

Halogen lights are somewhat similar to the incandescent lights in appearance as here too there is a tungsten filament that gets heated up and generate light by the heating effect on the halogen gas inside the light bulb. But, these lights operate at even higher temperature, emitting huge amount of infrared heat, even more than the incandescent lights, making it a fire hazard.

Fluorescent lights:

The Fluorescent light system emits light by heating up a gas, or phosphor or mercury that are downright harmful to human health. Besides, these lights exhibit a flicker effect and are often unable to turn on immediately to full brightness. Some varieties of fluorescent lights also create a mild buzzing sound while operating. These also are emitters of UV and Infrared radiations that are harmful to our health. These lights require a very safe disposal method because once the glass cracks, it releases mercury vapors.

LED lights:

The LED lights are way better than any of these three types of lighting systems. LED, the short form for Light Emitting Diodes is a semiconductor device in solid state. These do not require the heating of the metal filament or a gas to provide illumination. Whenever the semiconductor material is stimulated through electricity, the LED lights glow.

The LED MR16 means the light has a Multifaceted Reflector (MR) to create maximum illumination, which is evenly spread. The numeral 16 refers to the diameter of the LED lamps. The LED lights are superior in many aspects from the other categories of light. Their foremost benefit is to provide the best energy efficiency as very less amount of heat is generated. They also have a long life span and minimum environmental impact. These are low maintenance devices that create instant light. The LED MR16 lights can be utilized in a wide range of applications.
