Andrew McCumber Speaks at LeadingAge’s National Conference on Arbitration in Long Term Care

Oct. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Andrew R. McCumber, Managing Shareholder at McCumber, Daniels, Buntz, Hartig & Puig, P.A., co-presented, “Legal Updates in the Long Term Care Industry Part 1 - Arbitration,” to attendees of the 2012 LeadingAge’s Annual Conference in Denver, Colorado.  

Mr. McCumber’s presentation addressed the benefits of pre-dispute arbitration agreements to both long-term care providers and the residents they serve.  The presentation reviewed recent cases decided by the U.S. Supreme Court as well as various state courts that impact the enforceability of these agreements.  Attendees also gained insight into the competing positions of the U.S. Supreme Court and certain state courts regarding the use of arbitration agreements by the nursing home industry.
