Oct. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- It’s that time of year again...when the weather has started to turn cold, bringing with it the sniffles and sneezes of most of the children on your block. It’s to be expected every year and parents are always doing what they can to prevent the spread of colds and the flu.

But how about in large groups of kids...particularly in party places? Birthday parties where a few unknowing sick kids show up can be pretty hazardous to all others attending. This is why Funtasia, the number one party place for kids in Brooklyn would like to let everyone know what we are doing to help prevent the spread of colds and the flu when your kids are playing together.

The first step as a parent is to be responsible.  If you have a suspicion that your child is sick, even in the early stages, it might be best to keep them home. This prevents your child from spreading their illness while also allowing them to rest at home rather than attending a rambunctious party that will wipe them out completely.

Second, while at the party, be absolutely certain that no children eat or drink after one another.  This can easily be achieved by using a color coding system for cups or by simply writing your child’s name on the cup they are using. Funtasia staff will assist you with this, providing you with colored cups if needed.

You will also want to keep hand sanitizer handy. As your child jumps from station to station, be sure to clean their hands with hand sanitizer to prevent spreading any germ they may have picked up. Also, rest assured that every kids party place has regulations set in place where their equipment must be thoroughly wiped down and cleaned several times a day between parties.

Another safety precaution that may be a little hard to regulate is to try to create games and interactive activities that don’t require the children to be standing extremely close to one another. Any situation where children are breathing into one another’s face is something to avoid at all costs, particularly during cold and flu season.

Lastly, as a precaution, you may want to make sure you child drinks plenty of fluids and rests properly on the night after the party. If you suspect that another child may have been sick at the party, keep an eye on your child for the next day or so for any signs of sickness.

By following these steps, your child will be a lot less prone to picking up a nasty bug at that next birthday party.  So keep that hand sanitizer handy and come on down to Funtasia, Brooklyn’s best kids party place!
