Oct. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Qatar Airway’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker recently addressed the UK government about a ‘laid back response’ to the current over capacity issues arising at Heathrow airport – something those who have struggled to find Heathrow parking places will likely agree with. He made his comments during a talk at the UK Aviation Club in London on October 17. While everyone agrees that some sort of expansion plans to cope with the increasing pressure placed on Heathrow airport urgently need to be put in place, the question on everyone’s lips is when and how. While there has been talk of a new airport called Boris Island in Kent, Akbar Al Baker dismissed such a proposal saying it would take up to 20 years to build and would not be ready in time to support the UK’s thriving aviation industry. With the economy in its current condition Akbar Al Baker added, the proposal for a third runway at Heathrow Airport would be, by far, a more economical and manageable prospect.

The CEO continued in his talk to say that a third runway would help to continue to boost the number of travellers to the UK and ultimately aid the current economic situation. He explained that waiting 20 years for the supposed airport Boris Island would only leave the UK failing to meet the continued increase in capacity demands and be in serious jeopardy of losing business to other European countries.

Such fierce fighting talk does however, indicate that the UK’s tourist industry is once again on the rise and the aviation industry and related businesses are set to benefit in the forthcoming years. This increase in people passing through Heathrow, however, means a proportionate increase in vehicle traffic on the roads leading to and from the airport and an increased demand for cheap Heathrow airport parking. Business travellers and frequent flyers in particular, could possibly stand to be the most affected by this overcapacity issue thanks to associated issues surrounding public transport to and from the airport, increased waiting times for train and bus journeys, more expensive on-site parking and fewer last-minute seats available.
For those frustrated by their Heathrow experience, booking a Heathrow meet and greet parking service rather than a traditional car park spot can significantly help ease the passage of both incoming and outgoing travellers.

Saving time and money, the meet and greet service from Value Individual Parking means travellers can drive straight to the terminal building, avoiding the need to find parking space altogether. After being met by a parking team member, bags and suitcases can be wheeled straight into the terminal building for check in, as the car is transported by the handler to the secure Value Individual Parking facility. When flying back into the airport, the car is delivered to the terminal building, ready for a speedy departure.
