New Online Video Contest Offers Cash Prizes for Inspiring Engagement in the 2012 Election

Oct. 12, 2012 - PRLog -- New online video contest Vote It Forward Festival (http://www.voteitforwardfest.com/) (VIFF) is now accepting short film submissions on the topic of voting in the United States.  VIFF will award a total of $10,000 to videos of all genres, with a submission deadline of October 29, 2012. Inspired by the 2012 Presidential election, VIFF encourages both filmmakers and amateurs worldwide to share their motivation for participating in the electoral process.  View video entries and submission guidelines at www.VoteItForwardFest.com.

VIFF is dedicated to all Americans, with the belief that stories of exercising the right to vote will help inspire others to do the same.  Through the medium of online video, VIFF gives anyone with a video camera the opportunity to express what they believe in and share it with the world.

Videos are encouraged to be as creative as possible, including original video blogs, narrative skits, testimonials, spoken word performances, animated shorts, and documentaries.  Videos must be between 1-3 minutes in length and hosted via YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/VoteItForward) or Vimeo (http://www.vimeo.com/), and are eligible for prizes of up to $1,000 each based on a panel of judges or social media viral views.   Winners will be selected the week of October 29 and contacted via email.

Vote It Forward Festival Awards Include:
(1) Best of Fest Grand Prize: $1,000
(1) Best Short Documentary Prize: $1,000
(1) Best Comedy Prize: $1,000
(1) Best Video Blog Prize: $1,000
(1) Social Media Rockstar Prize: $1,000 (based on most online views)
(10) Runners-Up: $500


VIFF is produced by award-winning film and media professionals Aurin Squire and Caits Meissner.  VIFF judges include Lisa Russell, Nick Shimkin, Nikyatu Jusu, and Bayeté Ross Smith.
