For Happier Pets - Bring On The Light!

Many cats and dogs suffer from seasonal affective disorder due to a lack of sunlight. This article details how light therapy can increase health and happiness in your pet.

Oct. 11, 2012 - PRLog -- "Does your dog or cat become tired in the winter months? Perhaps they seem different but you simply can’t define why or maybe a much loved pet shows obvious signs of depression when the days get shorter?" questions Sally Gutteridge.

The answer is seasonal affective disorder also known as SAD.  Pets who do not recieve enough sunshine can become lethargic, anxious and depressed.  The cause is a lack of the "feel good" hormone, serotonin.

As the article says "Light therapy is chosen as a natural remedy and many sufferers state that by introducing light into their homes over the winter months the symptoms have dissipated to a more manageable level. Symptoms have sometimes disappeared altogether without the need of any drugs at all."

Pawsitive Lighting has just launched the first ever light therapy box for pets.  It's called the Sol Box, and works by emitting 10,000 lux of UV filtered light which is the equivalent of a sunny day.  This helps balance serotonin levels in their brain for a happy healthy pet!
