Oct. 10, 2012 - PRLog -- An event for small business and start-ups has been labelled a “valuable initiative” by the Business Secretary.

Held in Twickenham on the 3rd October this year, the Big Business-Get-Ready has been reported to be a success with over 100 people in attendance at the event at one time during the day.

Paullette Schwartz, Founder of Fabulous-Women.co.uk and co-organiser of the Big Business-Get-Ready said “I was delighted with the support we received for this event, not just from the Fabulous Women community and the people who came along; but also from Start Up Britain Champion for Richmond, Helen Roberts. She was invaluable in helping us getting news of the event circulated.”

Although Vince Cable, MP for Twickenham and Business Secretary was unable to be present on the day he said “I believe this is a really valuable initiative by Fabulous Women. I am working with government to ensure the potential of women is recognised at board level.”

Circulating on the day, it was apparent the value of this event. Exhibitors included Start Up Britain, Hounslow Chamber of Commerce and Best of Richmond amongst several other experts who happily answered questions and gave their points of view to attendees.

Remarking on the quality of the event, the exhibitors the author spoke to were enthusiastic. Veronica, who runs a property letting business, remarked “I cannot believe what great value this was. I have been to several talks and they were not only useful, but confidence building and motivating. Can I come again tomorrow?”

Certainly there was no lack of opportunity. Fabulous Women arranged 12 credible speakers including: Tom Evans, author; Wendy Kerr, coach; Carole Ann Rice, UK’s leading life coach and Sheree Lowe, social media expert.

In speaking to some of the exhibitors the consensus was more events like this are needed. Not only as a way for small business to promote themselves, but also as an way to get people going in business.

Surprisingly, there were several men in attendance. When interviewing Paullette later, she commented: “While our focus is doing business in female friendly environments, we do welcome men. In fact, we have many male members who support our community and are valued as a result. Locking men out is not good business, for anyone.”
