Follow on Google News | Dental Assistant School Students Help at Annual Dental COMOM Event in PuebloPueblo community members received dental health services for free. IntelliTec College Dental Assistant and Massage Therapist students joined 900 dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and other volunteers from all over the state.
By: IntelliTec College in Pueblo This year’s COMOM event was held September 28th and 29th from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Colorado State Fairgrounds at 1001 Beulah Ave. Pueblo, CO 81004. Members of the community in need of dental services were invited to come on out and take advantage of this amazing opportunity to better their oral health. There were no requirements to receive care. It was simply on a first-come, first-serve basis; no questions asked. Parking was available on and off the fairgrounds. IntelliTec College in Pueblo got involved in COMOM after Dean of Faculty Cristina Sandoval shared her experiences with the student body of a previous COMOM event in Colorado Springs. She offered the opportunity to Dental Assistant students as well as students from other programs. Visit IntelliTec’s Dental Assistant training program page at: http://www.intelliteccollege.com/ “I have done COMOM for the past few years and it’s an awesome and rewarding experience. To be able to help people who otherwise would not be able to receive the treatment due to cost is awesome! There is a high need for oral care and to be able to help someone smile again is worth the hard work put forth into this event. It’s a great experience for all to participate!” 14 Dental Assisting students, eight Massage Therapy students and seven Medical Assistant students volunteered at the event. Massage Therapy students provided free massages to other working volunteers while dental and medical students assisted with patient care. Sandoval said, “our goal was to provide at least 50 volunteers for the event.” This was a charitable event with donated work, but are other ways people can still help. To make a financial donation, interested parties can contact Pam Dinkfelt, Ph.D., at pamCOMOM@aol.com or 720-626-9778. IntelliTec College in Pueblo offers hands-on career training in cosmetology/ End
