Sept. 28, 2012 - PRLog -- Unlike many industries, over the last couple of years plastic surgery has become even more popular and despite the recession the numbers of both men and women choosing a cosmetic surgery procedure has risen each year. Even with the implant scandal continuing to make headline news, breast enlargement operations rose by 6.2% to become the most requested procedure of 2011. But with surgery numbers rising and heavily discounted cosmetic procedures appearing on money saving websites such as Groupon, the industry’s governing body, The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps), fear patients are jumping into the operating room without really considering the full consequences of surgery.

Baaps are now calling for these discounted offers and money saving vouchers to be banned and asking for restrictions on how breast enlargement and cosmetic surgery is advertised. The changes are hoped to bring about a shift in the way people approach surgery, letting patients think twice about jumping onto the operating table just to save money. The experts at Harley Street Surgery however, say it isn’t the pricing issue that’s causing the problem but the fact that many clinics push patients into going ahead with procedures without considering all the outcomes.

Breast enlargement and breast lift procedures, like any invasive surgery, can be risky and will change the way your body looks and feels. Generally patients choose surgery for the right reasons; for their health, to boost confidence or feel better about their shape, but it isn’t a decision to make lightly. Practitioners should offer consultation meetings with patients to share details of the operation including what to expect on the day and recovery time, followed by a sufficient cooling off period to decide whether surgery is the right choice for them.

All breast augmentation and breast lift patients at Harley Street Surgery - http://www.harleystreetsurgery.com/ are invited to meet with their surgeon and nursing staff during an initial consultation appointment. Then follows a standard 14 day cooling off period where patients have time to consider all the options available to them and even change their mind. This process would lead to greater satisfaction and less regret amongst patients.
