Djamee is an autodidact. When he was fourteen he met with Jean Louis Sherrer, the Chairman of The Syndical Chamber of Haute couture / High Fashion In Paris. This was an ambitious half an hour meeting with the legendary couturier at his office on the high end Avenue Montaigne. By the time Djamee Raphael, was Seventeen he dropped out of High School of Art he was enrolled to to go and take an evaluation test to be admitted to ESMOD PARIS, an International School of Fashion and Design. He stayed there a year and learned "Some great techniques."
Djamee R, who was known as RHA then, had some commercial success as a designers. He was selling his leather hats in Les Halles and Le Marais; two of the most edgy Parisian districts . He even traveled to his native Gabon where with the help of his mother he presented a show to a packed house of supporters. Back in Paris he presented his alluring creations at Christophe Dechavanne syndicated TV show.
Djamee had dreams of discovering new lands and new people; so when the opportunity presented itself he did. Once in New York, he learned the language at the American Institute of Language at NYU and the basic of Business and Marketing in a program for adult at NYU. All awhile he was working toward his bachelor Degree, and promoting a DJ crew he co-founded during the original Rave era . When the scene died out he got an offer to become a manager at the Tattoo Seen, Franchise in the Village. There he negotiated to have the front of the store where he sold custom made hats. During that time, he met a cool kid named Rome, who was selling CD. That meeting is the turning point that led to the events and stories Djamee shares with you in the series V.I.P.
