Onshore and Offshore Advances for a European Energy Highway

Sept. 25, 2012 - PRLog -- (September, 2012) LONDON –With the European Commission’s ambitious 2020 target in place, the European energy grid will need to undergo dramatic changes to meet tomorrow’s transmission and distribution requirements. In ENTSO-E’s latest 10 year plan, 100 transmission projects of pan-European significance have been identified to address these concerns, including 1,900 miles of undersea routes and 4,300 miles of onshore routes. There are still many questions and challenges facing this task:
•   What steps are necessary from a financial, regulatory and technical perspective to accelerate innovation and development in a green power grid?
•   How do grids need to change and be redesigned to become more flexible and better suited to renewables?
Green Power Grid Congress 2012 will unite the key senior level stakeholders in European power delivery on 4-5 December in Hamburg to discuss strategies and solutions for timely and cost effective grid development and renewable integration.
