Age UK Northumberland Hosts First Charity Golf Challenge

Sept. 24, 2012 - PRLog -- Golfers gathered in Longhorsley on Thursday [20 September] to tee off the very first Charity Golf Challenge hosted by Age UK Northumberland.
All the funds raised from the event, held at the Macdonald Linden Golf and Country Club, are being used to support the charity’s wide range of services enhancing life for vulnerable, isolated and often lonely older people throughout Northumberland.
Entrants enjoyed a day of great golf, fine food and fun competitions including prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin.

Catrina Flynn, Age UK’s Fundraising Manager in Northumberland, said:

“We are really excited to be holding our first ever Charity Golf Challenge. It’s a great fun way for local golfers to support what we’re doing.
“Everyone taking part has had a really fun day in beautiful surroundings, and has also shown that that they care about the older people of Northumberland.
“At Age UK Northumberland we believe that a society that cares about and cares for its older people is a civilised society. Old age will have an impact on all of us – we are an increasingly ageing population but not necessarily an increasingly well population. Events like our Golf Challenge have a serious purpose in highlighting these issues while giving people an enjoyable way to support what we are doing for older people.”
