Follow on Google News | ![]() Tech Company Releases Beta Version of Political Services PlatformBeyond the Ballot launches a platform with a focus on social media where politicians can connect with voters.
Political candidates can search for and claim their Beyond the Ballot profile to immediately begin updating their biography info, customizing URLs and backgrounds, and including all of their social media feeds like status updates, photos, videos, and blog entries. According to Brett Connison, Chief Operations Officer, updating and editing profiles is as easy as entering their Twitter username, YouTube channel, or typing up a biography. If a candidate intends to use Beyond the Ballot’s service in place of their own campaign website, they can perform an extra verification step and can accept campaign contributions. Not every official and candidate is currently listed on the site, but candidates can easily register and claim a profile in order to promote their candidacy. Voters visit the site to search for and find politicians and candidates for elections. This allows them to review each profile and determine where the candidate stands on certain issues and help them decide how they are going to vote on Election Day. The cost of Beyond the Ballot’s service is free for voters to use, while politicians and candidates for election can claim their profile for $50/month. On why they created this website, Connison stated “We were frustrated by the inability to quickly and accurately find information on the internet regarding political candidates in upcoming elections. Our website hopes to provide candidates and voters a way to connect with each other without the nuisance of searching through numerous personal campaign websites.” While this Beta release is only their first step, Beyond the Ballot engineers are already working on additional services and functionality that they hope to roll out before the November 6th election.
