PODS® Lexington co-hosts Summer4Life blood drive with Kentucky Blood Center

Sept. 4, 2012 - PRLog -- (LEXINGTON, KY) – This summer, PODS® Lexington is joining forces with Kentucky Blood Center (KBC) and popular radio station Mix 94.5 to host the final days of the Summer4Life, a blood drive promotion which ends Sept. 14.

The ultimate goal of this partnership is to raise awareness of the need for life-saving blood donations. As extra motivation to encourage people to give blood, everyone who registers to donate will be automatically eligible to win a 2012 Toyota Rav4. PODS Lexington will also reward each donor at Beaumont and Andover donor centers with a $20 coupon on a future PODS rental as a way of saying thanks for their generous donation.

Summer4Life will close out on Sept. 14 with a cookout at KBC’s Beaumont Donor Center. The cookout will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with a live remote from Mix 94.5 from noon to 2 p.m.

“We are devoted to helping Kentucky Blood Center exceed their goals this summer,” said Ken Kocon, franchise owner of PODS Lexington. “Giving blood is a selfless act and we encourage everyone to support this great cause. These donations will save lives.”

Kentucky Blood Center relies on volunteer blood donors to meet area patients’ needs. KBC, the largest Food and Drug Administration (FDA) licensed blood bank headquartered in the Commonwealth, is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring a safe, adequate blood supply for patients at nearly 70 Kentucky hospitals and clinics in more than 60 counties.

Over the last year KBC distributed nearly 130,000 blood components, relying on volunteer blood donors to meet patients’ needs in the areas it serves.
