Latin America’s mineral-rich land has generated a significant amount of interest over recent years. With Brasil leading the way in terms of mineral production, this lucrative industry has fast become the regions most profitable activity. Rapid development represents economic self-sufficiency for a lot of countries, but it does not mean there are not challenges ahead.
With this in mind, the Next Generation Mining summit will be addressing a range of key pain points and other emerging issues faced by decision makers in the sector. Key topics scheduled for discussion include: Health, safety and environment services; completion and production services; recruitment and high level staffing services; physical security; and communication technology, to name a few.
Malcolm Lake, SVP & COO of Rio Novo Gold, attended this year’s January summit and was particularly impressed by the networking opportunities that the one-to-one meetings provided. In his own words: “You have the opportunity to spend more quality time than in much bigger events. The summit was a useful and informal place to get together with one’s peers.”
In agreement, Julio Carvalho, President and Director For Rio Novo said: “It was a very good mix of the South American and Mexican mining/exploration companies. The summit was an excellent opportunity to share best practices in the continent.”
