Chief Fire Officer (CFO) designation

Fire Chief Tom Jamison is pleased to announce that Assistant Chief Tom May received the “Chief Fire Officer” (CFO) designation from the Commission on Professional Credentialing (CPC). The CPC awards the CFO designation only after an individual successfully meets all of the organization’s stringent criteria. The process includes an assessment of the applicant's education, experience, professional development, technical competencies, contributions to the profession, and community involvement. In addition, all applicants are required to identify a future professional development plan.
   This is an arduous application process. Chief May is the first recipient of this achievement for East Lake Fire Rescue, and there are only 8 others in Pinellas County and 83 in the state of Florida that has this designation.
