By: Big Brothers Big Sisters of WFC, Virginia Big for A Day participants are bringing the little to work for part of the day and spending lunch together. Sharing their work experience and discussing the path to get there including education and life choices aligns with the program mission of BBBS. “Mentoring is not only sharing discussion, but showing them opportunities that are the outcome of hard work and persistence,” Participants are encouraged to gain sponsors for the day, raising awareness about the ongoing need for qualified volunteers. We want to engage area businesses in partnerships that support the growth of our agency. Big for A Day is an opportunity for the community to learn more about our agency and to focus on sharing a life experience with one of our littles,” says Ferrell. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Winchester, Frederick & Clarke Counties is helping local children facing adversity reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring. The vision for 2012 is to serve more than 100 disadvantaged children who have the highest risk factors in Winchester City, Frederick & Clarke Counties by providing mentoring relationships thereby contributing to better schools, brighter futures and stronger communities.
