The Blue Steel nuclear stand-off weapon that the bomber is carrying falls into the hands of Indonesian President Sukarno, who threatens to sell it to Russia if Great Britain interferes with his plan to dominate Southeast Asia. Britain asks Australia for help to defuse this delicate situation.

Brad Grant and Tony Martin are Intelligence field officers on assignment from the RAAF to a secret agency known as AFIS (Air Force Intelligence Service.) The two are sent to Indonesia with orders to recover or destroy Blue Steel, but first they must locate it within the 3,000 islands of the sprawling archipelago nation! What they discover is a far cry from their original mission and the basis for this fact-inspired story.
