Aug. 6, 2012 - PRLog -- Emergency Communications Network (ECN), the nation’s largest and preferred high-speed mass notification provider, has released an upgraded version of their public safety alert application, the CodeRED Mobile Alert app.

The app allows the public to receive free emergency, general and missing children alerts directly on their smartphone. Alerts are contingent on the user’s specific location by using geo-aware technology, so only subscribers within the given reach of a notification will receive an alert. Notifications are launched by the thousands of CodeRED clients nationwide that consist of law enforcement and public safety organizations.

Available as a free download on both iPhone and Android smartphones, the upgraded app features group icon badges that alert the subscriber to those alerts not currently selected.  The app is highly customizable on the types of alerts the subscriber would like to receive, and the enhancement was made to draw attention to the subgroups of alerts available.

In addition, CodeRED Mobile Alert subscribers may now view weather alerts for the entire country, with previous access to view only a 500-mile radius around their current location. The upgraded version allows subscribers a 5,000-mile radius view. After the subscriber browses away from their current location, they also now have access to quickly re-center the map to show their current location.

“When we considered enhancements to the app, we really considered feedback from our clients and current app subscribers. It’s our goal to get the app into the hands of every American with a smartphone so they know that no matter where they are and even as they travel, they will receive critical public safety alerts designed to enhance public safety,” said David DiGiacomo, President of ECN.

The CodeRED Mobile Alert app made its debut in January 2012 for the iPhone platform, followed by a version for the Android market in May. The app is a free download on iTunes and Google Play.  For more information and to download the CodeRED Mobile Alert app, visit www.ecnetwork.com.
