Aug. 2, 2012 - PRLog -- NICK ADAMS WRITES OF ELVIS, HOLLYWOOD AND FRIENDSHIP IN POSTHUMOUS RELEASE OF “THE REBEL & THE KING”

The Rebel & The King has been newly released from WaterDancer Press.  The book consists of an original manuscript by Nick Adams about his friendship with Elvis Presley in 1956, discovered by Nick’s daughter, Allyson Adams, in an old box of memorabilia.  The book is a rare glimpse into her father and Elvis’ lives, presented as a raw manuscript, edited version, a foreword by the author’s daughter, and previously unseen photographs.

“This historical document is straight from the horse’s mouth, as if Nick and Elvis are speaking from the grave,” Allyson Adams writes in her foreword.

Nick Adams, most famous for his role in The Rebel, lived a short and fast-paced life in Hollywood only to die young, and somewhat mysteriously.  In this posthumous publication, Adams (23) writes about his unique experience on a trip with Elvis (21) to Memphis and Tupelo Homecoming concert in the early, innocent years of the singer’s rise to fame.  Adams was treated as if he were family by the Presley’s, eating at the family’s table and soaking up their goodwill. Adams gives a loving and behind-the-scenes look at Elvis as his friend, and also as a spiritual being, humble even among his meteoric celebrity.

“Nobody knows Nick Adams better than me, and Nick was E.P.’s best friend in Hollywood,” writes Robert Conrad, People’s Choice Favorite Actor, and International Radio Host.

The book will be pre-released at several events surrounding Elvis Week with Allyson Adams in person starting with The Tupelo Elvis Fan Club on August 7th at the Silver Moon Club, Tupelo, Mississippi at 6:30pm.  Next, Allyson will be at the unveiling of the Elvis statue at his birthplace in Tupelo on August 9. On August 10th at 9am she will be at the Lyric Theatre in Tupelo for an Elvis panel discussion/book signing, and later on that day on Sirrius Elvis Radio for an interview w/ DJ George Klein, from 3-6pm in Memphis, Tennesse. On August 11, The Booksellers at Laurelwood in Memphis will hold a book signing at 12pm. Monday, August 13, Allyson will join Elvis Week on The Insider’s Conference panel at Graceland from 9am-3pm with book signing opportunities throughout the day. On August 15, there will be an Elvis Candlelight Vigil in Graceland, at 8pm.  On the 16th there is an Elvis Week VIP Reception and Concert at Graceland, at 5pm. Finally, back on the West Coast on September 9, there will be a book signing at Diesel Books in Malibu, California at 3pm.

For 2012, WaterDancer plans at least one more title, a collector’s edition in color of The Rebel & The King. Books are available via www.therebelandtheking.com and in September, online at www.amazon.com
