By: Point Media It is too late to enter the event, but perhaps you're interested in volunteering or maybe you're looking for the perfect New Jersey location to watch the race? Here are a few new Ironman Triathlon articles and updates from mybergen.com. More event information will be posted daily. Volunteer with North Jersey Masters at Ironman U.S. Championship More than 3,000 athletes of all levels from Ironman professionals to first-timers will tackle the course that starts with a 2.4-mile swim in the Hudson River, followed by a 112-mile bike segment and ending with a 26.2-mile marathon through the Palisades, over the George Washington Bridge and finishing in Manhattan’s Riverside Park. North Jersey Masters, a Ridgewood-based running club, is working one of the aid stations on the course, which will wind through the hills of Palisades Interstate Park and the Englewood Boat Basin. The athletes will need both refreshment and encouragement on the grueling Ironman marathon run. The station is in the Undercliff area of Palisades Interstate Park. Volunteers are needed to hand out fluids, energy gels, chicken soup, fruit, pretzels, and a good dose of spirit to the athletes. Runners will pass by the station four times before heading into Manhattan over the George Washington Bridge.
