Bogota, SITP Also to Use GOAL SYSTEMS for its planning and scheduling

July 30, 2012 - PRLog -- JUNE 2012 — Bogota, COLOMBIA. GoalBus®, in its version for the REGULATORY AUTHORITY, is the planning software chosen for scheduling the operation of the approximately 14,000 buses that make up the INTEGRATED PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM (SITP) of the city of Bogotá.

The company RECAUDO BOGOTÁ, awarded operation of the INTEGRATED SYSTEM FOR COLLECTION, CONTROL AND USER SERVICE AND INFORMATION (SIRCI), made up of the Korean multinational company LG as well as important Colombian and Chilean partners, was in charge of choosing the best scheduling software worldwide according to the standards established by the Bogotá City Hall through TRANSMILENIO. This is Goal Systems’ largest operation to date in the bus sector and is valued at over 20 million dollars.

The city of Bogotá places itself at the forefront of urban transit planning worldwide with this system that will begin to run starting the month of June for its main operations and starting the month of July for its area operations. In addition, the SITP is TRANSMILENIO’s advanced response to the future transportation challenges which will result from the city’s population increase of over 4 million inhabitants over the next 30 years, with projections that show an increase from 780 thousand vehicles today to 3.7 million by the year 2040. The system means a true transformation of the public transport system in order for Bogotá’s transportation system to act as a catalyst for economic development and to result in an improved quality of life for its citizens.

With a number of 14,000 buses at its maximum peak (planned for the end of 2013), divided into 14 areas of operation managed by different operating companies, the city of Bogotá will become one of the top cities in the world by number of centrally planned, organized buses.

With the SITP, Bogotá’s transportation system will be completely integrated at the operational, physical, virtual, payment method and fare levels. Operational integration is focused on coordinating schedules, routes and frequencies. Physical integration refers to the connections using a common infrastructure, as is done with intercity buses in some stations of the TransMilenio. Virtual integration, like physical integration, will allow the user to have access to the different modes of transportation using only one payment method.

GoalBus® Regulator v5 will provide the following services:
— MANAGE AND ENSURE THE LEVELS OF SERVICE QUALITY APPROVED BY THE REGULATORY AUTHORITY (TRANSMILENIO), guaranteeing citizens their right to be able to move about efficiently.

— IDENTIFY AND SPECIFY THE SERVICE TYPES AND ROUTES needed to meet the demand. Thanks to its extraordinary simulation capacity, the best options for the system can be identified both from the perspective of public service as well as from a financial perspective.
— OPERATION IN A MULTI-OPERATOR ENVIRONMENT with distribution of labor according to business and operating criteria, facilitating understanding and impartiality among the different system operators and integrating all plans for management from both a global as well as a small-scale perspective.
— COMPLETE INTEGRATION WITH THE CONTROL AND COLLECTION SYSTEMS, THE TRANSMILENIO AND THE DIFFERENT OPERATORS, successfully making its integration with the SITP complete, transparent and effective.
— INTEGRATION WITH GOALBUS® STANDARD AND GOALDRIVER®, products currently used by most operators of the current TRANSMILENIO system, for optimal management of the physical fleet of buses and drivers. Management for each operating company is completely and automatically integrated with the levels of service identified by TRANSMILENIO, allowing it to provide a response to any modification in said levels of service in the most timely and cost-effective manner.
