The Block Party will feature various forms of entertainment and performances throughout the day including games, activities, raffle prizes and tutorials from the local fire department. Children will also have the chance to receive free school supplies just in time for back to school!
Families will have the opportunity to get active together through volunteer facilitated sports games, fitness activities, bounce houses, and obstacle courses. Health workshops will also be available such as disease preventative services including immunizations, as well as medical and dental check-ups and access to free and reduced cost health insurance.
About 50 local business and nonprofit organizations will have booths at the block party, providing additional health and nutritional information and services through interactive workshops that incorporate fitness classes, healthy cooking workshops, and “live safe” trainings.
Passports will be distributed to individuals at the beginning of the event to be stamped at each station they visit as an incentive to receive free food and become eligible for assorted giveaways.
The Block party is entrance free and will be held on August 11, 2012 beginning at 11 am on 3747 West Blvd in Los Angeles.
