PRLog - July 22, 2012 - BURBANK, Calif. -- DISARONNO® and TIA MARIA® are on a mission to bring the fun back to bartending, and nowhere will this be more evident than at the 10th annual Tales of the Cocktail® in New Orleans July 25-29, 2012. Two extravagant events– a Spirited Dinner and a Tasting Room – are planned to showcase the inherent fun of bartending. DISARONNO and TIA MARIA have gathered some of the country’s top mixologists, a “Top Chef” contender and there will be a special appearance by actor Ted Lange, a.k.a. the iconic bartender himself, Isaac Washington from TV’s “The Love Boat".
A Night of Guilty Pleasures
On the Thursday night of Tales, DISARONNO and TIA MARIA will host a star-studded event at the Musée Conti Wax Museum. In the spotlight: the ORIGINAL favorite bartender, Ted Lange (Isaac Washington), wanting to know, “What’s your pleasure?” Cocktail pleasure will abound with drinks created by star bartenders from New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, and the national winner of the United States Bartenders’ Guild Mixing Star Bartender Competition.
“Top Chef” finalist, Marcel Vigneron, star of “Marcel’s Quantum Kitchen” on the SyFy Channel will prepare the night’s dinner of tropical-inspired cuisine. Immediately following the dinner, an after-party of dessert treats will end the night on a sweet note.
Guilty Pleasures Tasting Room
On Friday, July 27, from 12:30pm to 2:00pm, DISARONNO and TIA MARIA come together again for a Tasting Room of Guilty Pleasures. Guests can mingle and have their photograph taken with Ted Lange, a.k.a. Isaac Washington from TV’s “The Love Boat,” while tasting an array of fun-filled cocktails created by notables who will show off such entertaining bartending techniques as flair, ice smashing and bicycle-powered blender cocktails. The Acadia Suite at the Royal Sonesta Hotel will be transformed into a beachfront boardwalk as guests let loose and enjoy the joys of service with a smile.
The legend of DISARONNO dates back to 1525, when Renaissance artist and Leonardo da Vinci pupil Bernardino Luini was commissioned to paint a fresco in Saronno. To portray the Madonna of Miracles, he chose as his muse a beautiful local innkeeper who repaid the honor by giving the artist a flask of a fragrant and delicate amber liquor known as amaretto. With its distinctive stopper and iconic square faceted Murano glass bottle, DISARONNO is now the world’s favorite Italian liquor, regarded as an icon of style and sophistication.
