British Somali Singer to Release Song for Somalia's Olympic Team

The proceeds from the sales of the single will go directly towards the Somali Olympic Committee’s initiatives to help encourage and sustain motivation within adolescent Somalis participating in sports

July 18, 2012 - PRLog -- Singer-songwriter and record producer, Aar Maanta, is set to release his latest single “Somalia Ha Noolaato” on July 23, 2012 to warmly welcome distinguished delegates from the Somali Olympic Team to the London 2012 Olympics.

“Somalia Ha Noolaato” is a deeply personal, faintly nostalgic song to Aar Maanta, encapsulating lost childhood dreams, and striving for peace and reconciliation. The song resonates with millions of Somalis in diasporic communities who despite having picked-up other languages and cultures still remain unwaveringly loyal to the language and heritage of their native land.

Hailed "Somali Culture Shaper in London" by StarAfrica.com following the release of his debut album Hiddo & Dhaqan (2009), Aar Maanta wrote and produced “Somalia Ha Noolaato” whose poignant lyrics are replete with an earnest patriot’s ode to his country “ ... My last breath, my last breath / I sing this song for my motherland.”

Commenting on the imminent release of the single, the Acting President of The Somali Olympic Committee, Duran Ahmed Farah, stated, ‘This is a great initiative by Aar Maanta, an artist whose inspirational music is loved by many Somalis, including myself and our athletes.”

Somalia's Sports and Performing Arts communities have always had a close relationship, one that unfortunately recently cost the lives of the President of Somali Olympic Committee, Aden Yabarow Wiish, and Somali Football Federation Chief, Said Mohamed Nur, both killed on April 4th 2012 in a terror blast at a celebratory event to commemorate the re-opening of Mogadishu's National Theatre.

The proceeds from the sales of the single will go directly towards the Somali Olympic
Committee’s initiatives to help encourage and sustain motivation within adolescent Somalis participating in sports by funding the development of training facilities in Mogadishu and other parts of the country where the need for sports participation is greatest.
