Vintage Seekers presents a selection of authentic vintage 1950's lighting from a variety of innovative modern designers from across Europe.

July 17, 2012 - PRLog -- Vintage Seekers' presents a selection of 1950’s lighting which illustrate the changing face of design across Europe. The collection includes a variety of lighting from: pendants, chandeliers, lamps, floor lamps and wall lights from across Continental Europe and Britain. With a shift away from the pre-war aesthetic towards more abstract design and a concentration on bright and bold colours, the 1950’s showed a conscious design move towards modernity.

The range of 1950’s Lighting on Vintage Seekers is hand-picked to offer only the most rare and collectible pieces from leading specialist suppliers across the UK and Continental Europe.

Highlights in the collection show the creative output from across Europe. First, a selection of 1950’s Tapio Wirkkala Pendant Lamps, these amongst others, also available at Vintage Seekers. Designed by Tapio Wirkkala and produced by Finnish design company iittala. These lamps are in perfect condition and are original old stock from the 1950’s. An example of the emerging Scandinavian characterised by simple design, minimalism and functionality.

Another example of authentic 1950’s lighting at Vintage Seeker’s is a 1950’s Stilnovo Multi-Coloured Chandelier. This Italian designed vintage light exhibits the 1950’s focus on bright colours and simple design. Italian design during this period focused on a sense of reconstruction, as a consequence of their industrial past they approached rebuilding with technical and functional detail.

Following the Second World War, lighting in the 1950’s took on a new identity. A period of reconstruction, the focus of design lay in producing technical, functional and minimalist pieces for the ‘50’s home.

Elsewhere in Europe, French design was also going through a phase of evolution in the aftermath of the war. Vintage Seekers’ are pleased to present an example of French lighting design with a 1950’s French Table Lamp by Jaques Blin. Preserved in mint condition, this lamp shows the former engineer Blin used a new found interest in pottery to experiment in creating beautiful examples of modernist lighting design.
