Boston-Based Company Shifts Focus to Further Benefit Their Clients

Spotlight Communications recently re-branded to better serve its clients in the ever changing public relations and marketing field.

July 16, 2012 - PRLog -- Recently, our company, Spotlight Communications, a full service public relations marketing firm, unveiled a newly designed website that focuses on the company’s shift to social media strategy services to help our clients grow their social networking presence. Fresh with a new logo, layout and brand, Spotlight Communications is fully equipped to help its clients “Grow Social. Grow Your Business.”

“Our new site reflects our firm’s shift to a focus on helping our clients grow their social networking presence to help achieve their business goals,” said Tomeeka Farrington, principal and founder, Spotlight Communications. “In the age of Web 2.0, it’s now more important than ever for our clients to not only disseminate information about their products and services, but to engage in a conversation with their own clients and customers, about how to improve those products and services.”

Studies show that over two-thirds amount of businesses use social networks and 90% have seen at least a measurable business benefit. At Spotlight Communications, it is important for us to show our clients how important it is to develop their social networks along with their traditional marketing rather than shying away from it. Tomeeka believes that the more Spotlight’s clients understand the benefits of staying on top of current changing business trends, the more their businesses will benefit.

As social media influence has grown, President Obama has taken notice and issued a new memo called “Digital Government: Building a 21st Century Platform to Better Serve the American People,” that requires government agencies to make at least two services, which are used by the public, available on mobile devices within 12 months. This has led to new opportunities for Spotlight, including agencies approaching the company to help with the development of mobile apps. Also, recently Spotlight was brought on by the Department of Health and Human Services to develop eLearning and social media training for its employees and grantees, which includes production of 52 webcasts over the course of one year and social media training.

See Tomeeka conduct a recent DHHS webcast training at the Georgetown Maternal Child Health Library.

Tomeeka founded spotlight Communications in 2005. During that time, she has been honored with a number of awards in leadership and social media marketing excellence.  In 2006, she graduated from the Emerging Leaders Program at UMass Boston, a competitive executive leadership-training program. In 2008, the Boston Business Journal named her one of Boston’s 40 under 40, and most recently she received the “Women of Courage and Conviction Award” from the National Council of Negro Women.

However, Tomeeka had the biggest influence in social media marketing when she developed Social Media U,  an adult continuing education pro¬gram designed to teach students how to use social networks.  The program identified target audiences, including baby boomers, business professionals, and recent college graduates and job seekers. Tomeeka launched a comprehensive curriculum that included “Social Media for the Tech Challenged,” “Podcasting 101” and “Harnessing the Power of LinkedIn.” The program hosted classes in per¬son in a hands-on technology lab, as well as distance learning via webcast.

As a result of her success with Social Media U, Tomeeka has been asked to educate professionals of today and tomorrow on the growth of social media. Additionally, Harvard Business School brought Tomeeka in as part of a panel to speak to the growing interest for social media management as a career option. Tomeeka consistently is staying atop of the growing social media trends, to prepare for these speaking engagements across all industries.

If you are interested in speaking with Tomeeka or learning more about Spotlight Communications, please let me know and I will be able to coordinate that for you. We look forward to working with you.
