Visual artists will take over the main hall of Greenbriar Mall while performing artists entertain the crowd from the stage. Formerly sponsored by the National Black Arts Festival, The Redfern Collective LLC has taken over to continue bringing fine art to the Southwest Atlanta area and to heighten the general public’s awareness of the arts.
Atlanta-based artists will include: Frank Morrison, Buchi Upjohn Aghaji, Selma Glass, K.J. Ballard Peters, Sidney Carter and Stuart McClean. Other artists include Woodrow Nash, Deborah Shedrick, Edwin Lester and more. There will also be live performances by Kimmie Gipson, lead dancer for international pop star Beyonce; award-winning poet Georgia Me; vocalist and guitarist Ken J. Martin and hip-hop emcee Yani. Saturday and Sunday will feature a children's theatrical performance by M. Power Productions and a children's art zone with activities for the kids to participate in. As is traditional for The Redfern Collective LLC, part of the proceeds from sales of the festival posters will go to a local charity. This year, proceeds will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta. This is truly an event for the entire family.
