However, in a complex business world, mistakes are unavoidable. What separates the top project managers from everyone else is that they aren’t afraid to make mistakes and that they are resilient and know how to rebound from them.

This one hour session will cover the top ten most common mistakes project managers make and how to avoid them. Using research and literature from sports psychology, such as James Loehr's The Mental Game, you'll learn techniques from positive psychology and competitive sports that focus on how to quickly rebound from mistakes. And, how to cultivate and use a strategic system for mitigating them. You will also learn how to manage your own reaction along with the loss of trust or damage to one’s reputation that can happen.

Carla Fair-Wright is an ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer and Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) . A Project Management Professional (PMP), she presented several sessions at the 2011 PMI conference in Houston. Carla is the chapter author of two books, 'Encyclopedia of Energy Engineering and Technology' and 'Case Studies and Applications of Web Based Energy Information and Control Systems.' She has been featured in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) magazine, Maintenance Technology, and CODE Magazine.

A long time advocate for bringing young woman into the sciences, she appeared on Fox News 26 as a guest expert on the subject of Gender Bias. Her most recently conducted lectures on leadership were at Rice University, Lamar University and the High School for Engineering Professions. Carla is the Past President of Society of Woman Engineers (SWE) Houston Section and will be a featured speaker at the SWE National Conference this November.
