Distressed Homeowners Have A Chance To Meet Their Lenders Face To Face

Fannie Mae, Bank of America and Several Other Servicers or Lenders Participating in Free Foreclosure Prevention Workshop with HUD Approved Housing Counselors

July 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Debthelper.com, a local non-profit, HUD approved Housing Counseling agency is providing distressed homeowners the opportunity to sit down with lenders, servicers and housing counselors during a free foreclosure prevention workshop. The workshop will be held from 8:00am to 3:00pm on July 21st at Mary Immaculate Church, 500 Spencer Drive in West Palm Beach.

By having some of the larger servicers and lenders available, this event gives many residents the possibility to work something out on their mortgages, on the spot. For those whose servicers are not present, the homeowner can sit down with a HUD Approved Housing Counselor to review the homeowner’s options and help present the homeowner’s case to the servicer.

Debthelper.com will also have Florida Hardest Hit Program counselors available to determine if homeowners who are unemployed or underemployed, meet eligibility criteria to have some or all of their mortgage payments paid for, up to 12 months. The Hardest Hit program can also repay up to $25,000 in delinquencies incurred by people who have been unemployed.

“Too often, homeowners facing difficult financial situations ignore their problems for so long that they lose opportunities to stay in their homes or at least be given substantial amounts of money to relocate. At the same time, many people who have been turned down for assistance in making payments, obtaining modifications or refinancing in the past, are now eligible due to changes in many of the programs at the lender, state and even federal levels”, said Kevin Maher, Community Outreach Coordinator at Debthelper.com.

Debthelper.com provides personal finance education, assistance in dealing with debt, credit and budget counseling as well as First Time Homebuyer, Foreclosure Avoidance and Reverse Mortgage Counseling.

Debthelper.com counselors are certified by either NeighborWorks America, the Center of Financial Certification (CFC) and/or are Exam-Qualified in the HUD-HECM Network.
