The website – http://www.equity.org.uk – was described by the judges as “Bright, bold and eye-catching”
This accolade is particularly significant given the high standard of those shortlisted. TUC General Secretary Brendan Barber had earlier acknowledged the category’s exceptional quality this year saying “The biggest growth has been in the website and e-communications categories, showing unions are facing up to the challenge of communicating effectively through new media.”
The recently launched website, with its intuitive design, focuses upon greater interaction with new and existing members, giving them the opportunity to play a more active role within the Union. Seamlessly integrated by netXtra to Equity’s Microsoft Dynamics CRM, it also enables them to keep membership information up-to-date whilst streamlining member registration and renewal processes.
In winning not only the best website award but also the best trade union magazine, Equity Assistant General Secretary Martin Brown commented: "Equity is 100 per cent committed to communicating with members to the very best of our ability so that members can take an active part in their union. Equity is fortunate to have a highly talented communications team. I am delighted that their work has been recognised by winning not one, but both of the TUC's top awards for outstanding communications."
