June 5, 2012 - PRLog -- The Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport (KPUJ) and its Airport Authority have announced that they will be hosting the Salute America 2012 Air Show on October 20th, 2012. The family-friendly, non-profit event is expected to draw well over 15,000 aviation enthusiasts from around metro Atlanta and throughout the southeastern United States.

As the newest airport to be built in the state of Georgia in over thirty years, Paulding Northwest Atlanta Airport’s inaugural air show will serve as an exciting aviation education and entertainment event. The air show is expected to provide a greater degree of exposure and interest for Paulding County, one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Georgia.

An impressive line-up of aircraft and aerial performers has been scheduled for the air show, including well-known aerial acrobatics teams, such as Team AeroShell and the U.S. Army’s Sky Soldiers Demonstration Team. Other notable performers scheduled for the event include the Hawker-Beechcraft Defense Company’s Texan II Demo, led by top acrobatics pilot, Mike Rambo, as well as performances by Gary Rower's Vintage Air Shows and Starjammer, a unique, acrobatics aircraft that is covered in lights.

According to the air show’s planning committee Chairman, Calvin Thompson, the event has been in the planning and approval stages for several months. “We have really worked hard to make this event a high-quality air show that will not only provide excitement and thrills for the general public in attendance, but we have also made sure that the event will serve to benefit the community as a charitable and educational event for youth and others who have a passion for aviation in general.”

Marketing for the event began in earnest in April, and, with a wide variety of corporate sponsorships already secured from companies such as Chik-fil-A, the event is expected to have a significant economic impact on Paulding County and the surrounding region. The air show’s planning committee includes several military and civilian pilots who possess extensive experience in planning and marketing both civilian and military air shows throughout the country.

The air show committee is also actively seeking volunteers to fill a wide variety of support roles for the event, including greeters and event guides.
