June 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Cadence Group®, a records and information management firm based in Atlanta, GA, and Washington D.C., is pleased to announce that Vice President Dan Beard will be speaking alongside Peggy Nagel at CAPLAW’s annual National Training Conference in San Diego June 5-7, 2012.

CAPLAW, a nonprofit membership organization established in 1989, is dedicated to providing the legal resources necessary to sustain and strengthen the national Community Action Agency (CAA) network.

Nationwide, over 1,000 CAAs use  their core Community Services Block Grant funding to leverage almost $10 billion in total funding and provide a multitude of services, including job training, Head Start, economic development,  energy assistance, housing, and advocacy on behalf of low- income individuals and families.

This year’s annual conference focuses on developing a strong foundation and building strategic initiatives that stand the test of time, tough economies, and growing demands for transparency.  With a faculty of attorneys, accountants, government officials, and nonprofit managers on hand to answer questions, the meeting will also provide the tools that CAA managers need to resolve the legal, financial, and management challenges they face today.

Beard’s session, titled “Reducing Risk Through Rock-Solid Records Management,” focuses on the benefits that a holistic approach to records management can provide.  Attendees will learn:

•   Why sound records management is critical to operating efficiently, documenting compliance, preparing for and responding to monitoring, and defending against legal claims
•   How records management is an organization-wide approach to controlling records-- from creation and distribution, through use and maintenance and, ultimately, to disposition
•   Practical tips on putting in place a compliant, consistent, and cost-effective records management program

“As organizations gather and have access to greater stores of data, relevant record retention requirements and the fundamentals of records management are becoming mission critical to the success of every organization,” offered Beard.  “I am excited to share best practices from my over fourteen years  of experience in this field with participants, giving them the insights they need to future-proof their organizations.”
