Alabama Author Lauren Clark Pens New Book Celebrating Dixie Heritage

‘Dancing Naked in Dixie’, a tale set in Eufaula, Alabama, to be released May 21st by author Lauren Clark.

May 14, 2012 - PRLog -- MOBILE, Alabama. May 14th 2012 – Award-winning author Lauren Clark launches her new book, Dancing Naked in Dixie, set in the culturally rich setting of the Deep South. Clark weaves a tale of mystery and love as readers accompany the protagonist Julia, a travel-writer from New York, on a journey to the ‘Heart of Dixie’—Eufaula, Alabama—home to magnificent mansions, sweet tea, and the annual Pilgrimage.

Ms. Clark uses her own experience to write her novels, and much like the main character Julia in ‘Dancing Naked in Dixie’ she was drawn to the charm of the Deep South and made the move from New York state to Mobile, Alabama 10 years ago.

“There is so much to love about my 'new' home. The people are friendly and welcoming, they are fiercely proud of their heritage and history, and have a long-standing belief in the importance of church, family, and community.

I wanted to take some of my own experiences, insert them into Julia's life, and watch how she grows and changes as a result. The fun of this storyline involves Julia discovering how wrong she was about the Deep South. It’s a life-changing experience for her. It’s my hope that readers feel that Dixie honors and celebrates cultural differences.”

Prior to its official launch on May 21st 2012, Dancing Naked in Dixie was named the winner of the WritersType First Chapter competition in March 2012.

Dancing Naked in Dixie is already garnering stellar reviews from advance reviewers.

“... a delightful, heartwarming read full of Southern secrets, sweet tea, and a touch of Dixie romance.”
Juliette Sobanet, author, Sleeping with Paris and Kissed in Paris

“There’s nothing more fun then plunking a tried and true New Yorker down in the Deep South. I read this book in a day and loved every second of it!”
Kate Rockland, Author, 150 Pounds

“Lauren Clark has captured the real life personalities of the hip New Yorker and the caring Southern ladies and gentlemen. This book is a must read for all romantics, young and old.”
Trudi LoPreto, Readers Favorite

About the Book

Julia Sullivan lives life in fast-forward. As a travel writer, she jet sets to Europe, South America, and the Caribbean with barely a moment to blink or sleep. But this perpetual motion—and her own scattered personality—catches up with her. When she stops in New York to pick up her next assignment, Julia discovers she’s on the verge of being fired.

With a stern warning, and unemployment looming, Julia is offered one last chance to rescue her career. She embarks on a journey to the ‘Heart of Dixie’—Eufaula, Alabama—home to magnificent mansions, sweet tea, and the annual Pilgrimage. During this spring tour of historic homes, visitors flock to the city and enjoy turn of the century architecture, delightful meals, and Southern hospitality.

Despite a series of mishaps, a trip to the ER, and one major wardrobe disaster, Julia soon realizes she’s fallen in love with Eufaula and her charming host, Shug Jordan. But when a real estate developer announces plans to turn the city into a tourist spot, Julia’s thrown off-balance once again. How could this happen? Is there a connection between Shug and the developer? And can Julia’s story help save Eufaula and the annual Pilgrimage?
