Graceann Warn Opening Reception

May 11, 2012 - PRLog -- Altered Space Gallery is proud to present new work by encaustic painter, Graceann Warn. For each painting, Graceann Warn creates multiple layers using pigmented wax, paper with text or images, and found objects. This produces a distressed surface with depth, beckoning the curious onlooker to try and solve the mystery of her intent.

Her formal education is in landscape architecture, classical archeology, and theater design and is evident in her paintings. “The paintings I make reflect my interests in architecture and archeology. They evoke the surfaces of well worn structures, at once revealing and concealing.”

She has had exhibitions in the US Embassy in Yugoslavia and Kenya as well as an exhibition at the Sculpture Objects & Functional Art Fair in Chicago.

The Opening Reception is Friday, June 1, 2012 from 5p-8p. The event will coincide with Abbot Kinney 1st Fridays and jazz enthusiast Brian Mitchell Brody will provide music. Brody has over thirty years experience performing sophisticated saxophone driven jazz music.
