May 4, 2012 - PRLog -- Baxi has announced the launch of its new MCS accredited solar thermal system with flat plate collectors. Baxi Solarflo is now available, with panels of 2.0 m2 (both portrait and landscape) in configurations of one, two or three panels and 2.5m² (portrait only) with configurations of one and two panels, supporting 120 to 300L twin coil cylinders.

The new panels are manufactured in house by Baxi with a new specification and patented fixings that save up to 50% on installation time.  The unique on roof mounting system can be used for mounting collectors on to all types of tiled or slate roofs with adjustable height settings.

Solarflo panels can also be fitted in-roof, with a complete range of flashing options for both tile and slate roofs.  The flashing kits are colour co-ordinated to match the solar collectors. For flat roof or off-roof installations, an A-frame with 12 positions – from 20 to 55° - is available and helps to achieve the perfect angle, depending on the location, for maximum solar gain.

The hydraulics use a push-fit, bayonet and clip system for speedy installation.  the hydraulic kit contains the collector sensor to enable a quick first fix of the system, two 1m lengths of insulated flexible connectors are also supplied which can be passed in to the roof space ready to be joined on to the system.

All panels conform to the latest EN1991 standard and are laser welded, with vulcanised rubber seals on the glass to ensure water tightness and to prevent the growth of mould which can affect the performance of the collector. An aluminium absorber is housed behind low-iron textured glass with an anti-reflective coating which helps the collectors to achieve some of the best efficiencies in class.

Baxi Solarflo is backed up by award-winning heateam after sales service, with a 10-year warranty on the panels, two years on the pump station and one year on ancillary items. Baxi already offers a comprehensive BPEC accredited solar thermal course for customers working towards MCS accreditation.

Baxi originally launched its first solar thermal system in 2006 with both flat plate and evacuated tube collectors. According to Energy Savings Trust (EST) field tests, solar thermal can deliver up to 60% of the annual hot water requirements of a home.

Solar thermal remains one of the simplest renewable technologies to retrofit to an existing heating system with an indirect cylinder, and is listed as an approved measure within the Green Deal proposal and for commercial applications is eligible for the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) which offers a metred tariff of 8.9p / kWh, with a domestic equivalent to follow in 2013.

Baxi Solarflo is fully compatible with systems including Baxi Megaflo System Compact GA, Baxi Solo HE A heat only boilers and Heatrae Sadia’s Megaflo eco Solar cylinder.
