Adelphi University Presents ‘Dance Adelphi Spring: Ephemeral Diversions’

April 23, 2012 - PRLog -- The distinguished faculty and seasoned choreographers of the Adelphi University Dance Department brings you the debut of new works of ballet and modern techniques through ‘Dance Adelphi Spring: Ephemeral Diversions.’ The Dance Adelphi performances are scheduled to take place on Thursday, April 26 and Friday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, April 28, at 2:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 29, at 2:00 p.m., in the Olmsted Theatre of the AUPAC. Choreographers Frank Augustyn, Catherine Denisot-Lawrence, Orion Duckstein, and Adelheid B. Strelick, will present four pieces: ‘Napoli (Pas De Six)’, ‘Change of Heart’, ‘Love 15 (It’s a Drag, Baby)’ and ‘Lebensabschnittsgefährte.’

All pieces with the exclusion of ‘Napoli’ will premiere as brand new dances. Denisot-Lawrence brings to you ‘Change of Heart’ which according to her was conceived and inspired after listening to the music of Beethoven, Opus 18, “The music is light and ethereal and has an upbeat quality, yet there is an air of indecision—and a change of heart if you will—in the Adagio section. This prompts a feeling of insouciance and variability which is demonstrated through the interactions and relationships of the dancers.” Strelick choreographs ‘Lebensabschnittsgefährte’ which literally means life partner. Her routine is inspired by an installation by the French Artist, Sophie Calle, relating to the German saying, “why be simple, when you can be beautifully complicated."
