April 12, 2012 - PRLog -- White Plains, NY – Dr. Pamela N. Minyard was appointed as the new Executive Director of the College Careers Fund of Westchester, Inc. (College Careers).  She is the third person to serve as the chief executive officer in the forty-five year history of the organization, replacing Blanche Walker of White Plains who served since 1992 and, prior to her, founder Dorothy Allensworth of Mamaroneck who served since 1967.  Dr. Minyard indicated that College Careers’ focus will be to “continue the long tradition of providing higher educational opportunities for students in need, in addition to providing innovative and effective leadership and career readiness programs relevant in  today’s world.”

We were very lucky to find her and are excited about the future of College Careers and our students under her leadership!”

Dr. Minyard comes to College Careers with more than 15 years of executive leadership experience.  Prior to assuming her executive director position, Dr. Minyard served as Assistant Provost at Mercy College and Director of Enrollment Outreach and Partnerships.  She also served as Founder and Executive Director of GIOLAI, which trained over 1200 girls in leadership development in Westchester and the Bronx.  She is a published author and has delivered numerous presentations and lectures nationally and internationally on effective recruitment and retention strategies for at-risk youth.  She also served as adjunct professor at a number of private and public colleges and universities.

She brings a strong array of skills and obvious passion to the core mission of College Careers and the students who it serves.  She is a member of the International Leadership Association and currently volunteers at the Junior League of Westchester-on-Hudson, where she serves as Community Vice President. She also serves as a board member for The Volunteer Center of United Way.
