By: Stewart Koenig Evans Chevrolet, celebrating 90 years in business, recently finished remodeling its exterior and is currently remodeling its interior. The Syracuse Chevrolet (http://evanschevy.com) Wanderer’s Rest is in its 31st year of providing care to animals, seeking permanent homes for them and educating pet owners about proper animal care. It serves as a temporary safe home for dogs and cats. Evans said he’d donate $250 for every 250 new “likes” on the Evans Chevrolet Facebook page. The Facebook page has updates and shows the most recent TV commercials for new Chevy car and truck models that include Chevy Avalanche, Cruze, Malibu, Silverado pickup, Equinox SUV/Crossover, Traverse, Volt, Camaro, Impala and Sonic. Evans Chevy also sells quality GM certified used and pre-owned vehicles. The remodeled dealership will be finished later this spring. Just before Easter, 240 new Facebook friends liked the Chevy dealership and Evans decided to make an early donation as a holiday gift. “Anything we can do to help Wanderer’s Rest take care of animals in need is time and money well spent,” Evans said. Last year the Evans Chevy car and truck dealership hosted an animal adoption day for Wanderer’s Rest and is planning to again this year. “It is heartwarming and amazing that a business would reach out like this,” said Dee Schaefer, operations coordinator and humane educator for Wanderer’s Rest. She said $250 can pay for a pallet of cat litter, medicine, office supplies, food and more. Evans Chevy is a car and truck dealer that wants to help the community and Mark Evans love for animals is a perfect fit to help Wanderer’s Rest. The animal shelter receives one third of its budget from Madison County and depends on the rest from donations. “Mark Evans and his entire dealer staff have been so generous and welcoming,” Schaefer said. The Evans Chevrolet car and truck dealership is conveniently located in Baldwinsville, NY, an easy drive for those coming from Liverpool, Camillus, Cicero, Clay, East Syracuse, Fayetteville, Manlius, Skaneateles, Phoenix, Oswego, and even Watertown and Utica.
