March 29, 2012 - PRLog -- The competing designs, which include a Batwing inspired batbox and towering, folding beehive – a modern take on a traditional lampost – are shortlisted in the InMidtown Habitats competition, which go on public display from today.

The competition is looking for innovative design ideas for bee hives, bat boxes, bird boxes and planters to help grow the population of 500,000 bees and thousands of bats already living in the district.  Led by InMidtown, on behalf of 570 businesses in Holborn, Bloomsbury and St Giles, the winning designs will be produced and installed in green spaces and on the rooftops and terraces of businesses throughout London’s Midtown area.  With research showing that InMidtown’s existing urban beekeeping scheme has been great for work culture and office morale – as well as the creating a better environment – local businesses are driving this initiative to extend the impact.

The final three designs will be exhibited at a display at Central Saint Giles – the landmark multicoloured Renzo Piano building – over the next three weeks for public feedback.
