Ryden lets space to The Taoist Tai Chi Society

March 28, 2012 - PRLog -- The Taoist Tai Chi Society of Great Britain is to open a Scottish regional centre at 69 Marionville Road in Edinburgh, after Ryden and Lambert Smith Hampton successfully negotiated the purchase of the former Kwik-Save food store premises.

The Society, part of a global network operating in 27 countries with over 40,000 members, was represented by Lindsays in their purchase of the 1,340 sq m (14,424 sq ft) property.  The deal involved securing planning permission for a change of use from retail to leisure.  

Refurbishment has already commenced at the building, and future works are planned to create a modern tai chi centre with a practice hall that will cater for up to 500 people. The centre, due to open in the spring, with a formal Grand Opening scheduled for the autumn, will also serve as the administrative hub of the Society in Scotland.

Commenting on the deal, associate at Ryden Alan Herriot said: “This is another example of a property being acquired for alternative use due to the cost associated with, and the difficulties in securing finance for, a purpose-built property. The building at Marionville Road is ideal for the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Great Britain as it is located close to the city centre, a good size and has extensive car parking.”
