Spirit of Uganda to Perform in Dallas – April 14, 2012 Only: A Global Celebration of Life

March 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Dallas, TX (www.eandhweek.org): The Spirit of Uganda, Empower African Children's professional training and touring group, will be featured at a benefit concert at 8 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, at McFarlin Auditorium, on the campus of Southern Methodist University. Twenty-two vibrant performers, ages 8-18, will share the histories, legends and beliefs of East Africa combined with emerging and dynamic music and dance forms.

   Combining the melodic tones of standing drums, with dramatic choreography, bright, layered rhythms, and gorgeous call-and-response vocals, Spirit of Uganda brings to life the sounds and movements of East Africa.  Learn more at www.empowerafricanchildren.org.

Engineering & Humanity Week is sponsored by Hunter and Stephanie Hunt, the Hunt Institute for Engineering and Humanity at Southern Methodist University’s Lyle School of Engineering, and co-hosted with the University of Oxford’s Refugee Studies Center.
